Why Visit Istanbul

Discover Istanbul's layered past, revealing Byzantine mosaics at Chora Church and Ottoman grandeur in Topkapi Palace. The city's ancient walls, like those near Yedikule, offer a glimpse into its Roman foundations. This historical depth is what is Istanbul famous for.

The Bosphorus divides continents, offering unique ferry views. Climb Çamlıca Hill for panoramic cityscapes, or explore Büyükada's car-free streets. Enjoy an evening 'simit' with tea by the Kadıköy ferry terminal, witnessing local life. These are the best reasons to visit Istanbul.

Savor Istanbul's diverse culinary landscape, from street-side 'kokoreç' to elaborate meze spreads. Explore the spice bazaar for authentic ingredients. Experiencing a traditional Turkish breakfast, with 'kaymak' and honey, is an essential part of visiting Istanbul.

Istanbul blew me away and I wasn't even ready for it

The Grand Bazaar alone is worth the trip. So many stalls, colors, and people - you could spend hours just walking around. The food is cheap and genuinely tasty. Locals are helpful even when there's a language barrier.

Best city break I've done in years

Sultanahmet is absolutely stunning - the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia are right next to each other and both are incredible. Street food like simit and fresh fish sandwiches near the Galata Bridge kept us well fed without spending much. Really loved it.

A city that just works on every level

Stayed in Beyoglu and it was a great base. Istiklal Avenue is always busy, day or night, with plenty of places to eat and drink. The tram that runs along the street is fun and useful. Turkish tea everywhere and always good. Great city for walking.

History overload in the best way possible

You can't walk ten minutes without bumping into something ancient. The Topkapi Palace was a highlight - massive complex with incredible views over the Bosphorus. Ferry rides between the European and Asian sides are cheap and fun. Very easy city to get around.

Istanbul for food lovers - go now

Turkish breakfast here is on another level. Went to a small place in Karaköy and the spread of olives, cheeses, eggs, bread, and honey was just unreal. Everything is fresh and incredibly affordable. Honestly one of the best food cities I've ever been to.

Did not expect the Bosphorus to be this beautiful

Taking the public ferry along the Bosphorus is something everyone should do. The views of the waterfront with all the mosques and old buildings behind them are just stunning. The city feels completely different from the water. Such a cool experience.
